I then clocked how long it took to download that data set back from each card onto my hard drive. I timed how long it took to copy this same data set from my hard drive back to each of several different SD cards, as well as onto some of my pro CF cards. I got curious, since I have a need for speed. Once I downloaded my card, I asked myself why it had to take a minute to suck in what should have come across in just seconds if I had shot it on a professional CF card instead of SD. I clocked how long it took to download this SD card into my Quad 2.5GHz G5 Mac (OS 10.4.11) with the hottest USB reader available today, the SanDisk ImageMate Multi-Card Reader. I had 207 files totaling 406.6MB (as read in OS 10.4.11 Get Info) in two folders shot with the LEICA M9, including JPGs of various sizes and some DNGs. Even then, it will randomly disconnect, and often it just won't connect at all.īecause the thing is so cheap, I feel like I can't really complain too much. Not only that, but I have to actually put pressure on the memory card for my computer to recognize it. Now, I have to re-insert both the reader and the memory card multiple times in order for the reader to work at all. Yet once I switched it to a different port, it usually worked fine again. Soon, however, it began disconnecting while I was importing photos, giving me the "device was not ejected properly" error message. After the first month or so, I had trouble getting my computer to recognize the reader, but this was usually fixed by switching USB ports or re-inserting the memory card. I actually began to prefer to it the old connector cord that preceded it.īut now that I've been using it for about four months, I'm not nearly so happy. It did exactly what it was supposed to do with no issues. I bought this reader because the connector that came with my Sony DSC-H50 suddenly stopped working. This makes it so much easier for me! Definitely worth it for me! I am so happy that this worked for me and I no longer have to go to my slow old vista computer to upload photos onto a flash drive to upload into my new computer. I also like that this has a clear plastic cap to cover the USB plug when not in use. (My monitor is the type with the hard drive and disk drive built into the monitor.) As soon as I plugged it in, it started to download the driver I needed and I put my card in and all my pictures and videos were uploaded to my computer. I bought this adapter and while it does not fit in the USB port that is located underneath my screen, it DOES fit in the USB port on the back of the monitor. My camera takes a sandisk memory stick pro duo and it is 4GB. I had bought my camera about 10 years ago and it still works and takes better pics than my iPhone. I recently bought a new computer, an HP Pavilion windows 10 and it did not have a slot for my memory card that I use in my Sony Digital Camera.
